A look inside a private 1:1 workshop in my studio

Hey Reader,

This is my first email of 2026, so happy (slightly belated) New Year 🎉

Last December was filled with private in-person workshops, so I wanted to give you a small glimpse into what it actually looks like behind the scenes.

One of those workshops was with Anna, who came over from Italy for two full days of focused hands-on work. She already had a clear vision for where she wanted to go creatively as she's starting her photography business. What she needed was guidance, structure, and someone to help her translate her ideas into images that are ready for clients.

And that's exactly what we worked on.

In my in-person workshops, the focus goes far beyond learning the techniques. Yes, sure, we work on lighting, styling, retouching, and whatnot. But the actual goal is to help photographers refine their visual language andmake confident creative decisions so they can elevate their work to a commercial level.

During the two days together, we explored multiple commercial scenarios, including drinks, packaging, levitation, and difficult-to-style savory dishes. All with the same intention: TO THINK LIKE A COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHER.

Every frame was an exercise in problem-solving and intentional creative decision-making. And that all meant shaping light to create the feel we wanted (lifestyle shots with different storytelling, bold product images...), refining details, which are incredibly important in commercial work, and, at the end of the day, editing and retouching images to tie it all together.

One of my favorite moments was experimenting with different noodle styles while using gels to create a warm Mediterranean evening atmosphere. Seeing that click for a student is always the best part, and why I love mentoring.

These are just a few moments from our time together, but they capture the essence of how I work with photographers one-on-one.

If you’d like to see a bit of the behind-the-scenes, Anna shared a BTS reel from the workshop — you can watch it here, and go give her some love while you’re there.

And if you’d like to join me in my studio for a private workshop as well, simply reply to this email, and we can explore whether working together makes sense.

If traveling to Slovenia isn’t an option for you, I also offer online coaching opportunities.

Have a lovely weekend ❤️
