📷 Portugal retreat registrations are OPEN 🌄

Hey Reader,

No more waiting… we're heading to Portugal for a one-of-a-kind food photography retreat, and I'd love for you to join us.

This is the only retreat where we’ll combine slowing down, cooking regenerative food together, and capturing everything in beautiful photo stories. Imagine yourself spending 7 days in the scenic Portuguese countryside.

3, 2, 1… 📸🍅🌿

As food photographers, we spend so much time chasing the next thing. A better lens or a new editing trick.

But I’ve realized that sometimes what we really need is to step away from our screens for a bit.

To pick tomatoes straight from the garden. Or cook with other creative people. Or simply sit around a long table with a glass of wine and talk about food and photography for hours.

That's why Sophie from The Farming Chefs and I created this retreat.

From 29 September to 6 October 2026, we'll gather in rural Portugal for a week of:

  • seasonal farm-to-table cooking and regenerative food culture
  • natural light food photography and storytelling
  • food styling and plating techniques
  • editing for mood and atmosphere
  • harvesting ingredients and cooking together
  • long-table dinners, local wine, and plenty of good conversation

This retreat is for anyone who wants to slow down, all while creating food images with a little more feeling and a little more intention. Being able to find or create moments that move something in people watching the images.

And guess the best part?

You don't need a professional camera. Your phone is more than enough.

You just need curiosity, creativity, and a love of good food.

Some of my favorite moments from workshops and retreats have actually happened in between the planned sessions. Over breakfast, when the food looks incredible in the morning light, or when someone suddenly has an idea, and everyone grabs their cameras.

That's the kind of week we're creating. A photography retreat that is more than just that. It's a chance to reconnect with food and with your own creativity.

We'd be so happy to spend these seven days with you in Portugal.

Hope to see you in September.

Anja (& Sophie)

P.S. Don't want to hear any more about the retreat? No worries. Just click here, and we won't send you any more retreat emails.
